  • support the infrastructure of the Hub

Hub ensemble concerts: the Music Hub ensembles give regular concerts throughout the year which the Friends staff and support.

Special projects: the Friends provides staffing and financial support for special projects that arise across the year.Music Professional is a digital programme to support the work of the Hub’s professional instrumental teachers.

Donations and fundraising: Fundraising is a key activity of the Friends in order to support and finance a range of Music Hub activities. As a supporter, you can raise money effortlessly by registering to use the Easy Fundraising toolbar for your internet searches. How to do this is explained in the next section.

How to use Easy Fundraising

Raise money effortlessly by registering to use the Easy Fundraising toolbar for your internet searches!

Go to Under 'Support A Cause', search for Friends of Portsmouth Music Hub" and click Support.

Once it has your details, the system will remember that you are supporting the Friends. Every time you login and make a purchase the system will allocate the donation received to us without any cost to you. Once you've registered, go to 'Raise More' on the main menu at the top, and click on 'Find & Remind'. Then click on 'Install Toolbar'. This will install an additional toolbar on your web browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox) and a banner will appear at the top of the screen whenever you are on the website of a participating retailer (and there are over 2,000 of them). It will also instantly raise 50p for us.

Once you've done that, go to the menu at the bottom of the screen, and click on ''. A new tab will open. At the bottom of this screen, under the heading Fundraising Tips, is a link called 'easysearch from my search bar'. Clicking this will allow you to use the Friends search engine from the search bar at the top right of IE, Chrome or Firefox. There can also set the search engine as your web home page. Each internet search we make will then raise ½p – not a lot – but the average person can raise £15 over the course of a year just by doing the searches that they would ordinarily do anyway.
