Sue Beckett

Head of Portsmouth Music Service

Sue has worked in Portsmouth for over 12 years and is Head of Portsmouth Music Service as well as CEO of Portsmouth Music Hub. She has worked as a peripatetic instrumental teacher and taught music from early years to Key Stage 4 as well as working with adults and corporate groups providing team building and training using music to enhance communication skills. Sue has worked as a Music Adviser in Devon, Hampshire and the Channel Islands. She was Deputy Director of Southampton Music Service before coming to Portsmouth and has worked as an OfSTED Inspector, Music Service Evaluation Partner, Arts Award Adviser and Creativity Consultant. At one stage Sue even worked as a Tweenies Trainer for the BBC!

Sue has written a number of books and publications in the music education field, including the Music Works series which is distributed internationally. She plays a wide range of instruments and is particularly passionate about playing the oboe.
