About OmniArts Performing School
OmniArts is an independent, non-profit organisation with groups in and around the Portsmouth, UK area. Our aim is to bring the arts to anyone – no matter their age, ability or background. The performing arts is a fantastic way to build confidence and learn about yourself and others, which appeals to all ages.
- To provide a safe and friendly environment for people of all ages and abilities to work together.
- To accept anyone to a group, no matter their religion, race or disabilities.
- To provide extra opportunities for members within the wider performing arts community where appropriate.
- To offer opportunities to students at local places of education to gain experiences by taking part in shows and workshops which OmniArts produces. These opportunities include, but are not limited to: set building, photography, playwriting, sound and lighting technician work, hair and makeup, costume designers and graphic designers.
- To provide our students (members of OmniArts) the chance to learn about others cultures and customs through the medium of performing arts.
Groups and Services
The OmniArts family currently has a range of groups, bringing the performing arts to all ages, from 0 to over 100!
Generations: Generations is brand new group for children who love music, dancing and play acting. Bond with your child and forge new friendships with the older generation in our community through creative play, instruments and singing, sensory movement/dance and arts and crafts. This creative group is aimed at children aged 2 to 5 years old. Youth Theatre: Joining a youth theatre is a great way to get creative ideas flowing for a child, as well as a way to socialise with others their age and boost their confidence. OmniArts Youth Theatre is an affordable drama group that works with the members to help them engage all their senses to create & learn theatre pieces. OmniArts Youth Theatre is a perfect place to make new friends and learn new skills. We pace our sessions at a speed to suit all members, keeping the content interesting. We also include other aspects of the arts in our lessons, such as prop and scenery building, costume making, makeup skills, and even producing and writing should the members request it.
Music for the Mind: In conjunction with Home Instead Havant, OmniArts presents Music for the Mind: a FREE group for people with dementia and memory problems. This is a singing activity led by Becki Short, a trained singing teacher, to give an uplifting and fun experience. Bring the one you care for with you to a relaxed setting where they can be supported and join in. The sessions start with a gentle physical and vocal warm up, and instruments are handed round. Attendees choose songs from the songbook, and we sing and play them, with a short tea break, and a vocal cool down at the end of the session. Every session is relaxed, and flows organically with those attending. Sometimes there is reminiscing and story telling, sometimes dancing, and sometimes attendees bring their own musical talents to light as well!
OmniArts also provides private tuition:
