PORTSMOUTH

EVENTS

  • This year marks 100 years since Portsmouth was granted city status, and to celebrate this we have composed a brand new song, On Shining Waters.

All the resource to On Shining Waters, can be found on our website: https://www.portsmouthmusichub.org/on-shining-waters

The finished video will bring together choirs, drama groups, and schools from across Portsmouth, celebrating the creativity and spirit of our city.

  • Melody Mermaid’s Portsmouth Party is a joyful, music led story experience for young children and their families, blending imagination, local identity, and playful learning. Set under the waves off the Portsmouth coast, this original tale follows Melody Mermaid a harpist, as she prepares for a very special party with her sea creature friends and along the way, invites children to join in with songs, rhymes, and games.

This fun musical adventure promotes early communication, creativity and language development.

  • The ‘Top Brass 100’ project aims to inspire young people to take part in group music making through the power of brass and to celebrate Portsmouth’s centenary.

The project will culminate in a large scale summer celebration, bringing together all training bands alongside community groups such as the Salvation Army Band, Victory Brass and the Royal Marines Band with bespoke arrangements allowing young learners to play alongside professional musicians.

  • Infant Voices Festival is an opportunity for KS1 children to join with other schools across the city to sing together and share performances.

Infant Voices comprises of a festival week held at schools across the city, followed by an optional showcase performance at Portsmouth Guildhall for Year 1 and 2.

This year, we will be using song from the Hub’s songbook Bombay’s Big Adventure.

  • Schools across the city are invited to join this celebration of Portsmouth’s centenary year through music. The event will take place on 9th July at Portsmouth Guildhall.

  • Join us for a magical day of music and celebration at Prom in the Park, taking place in Victoria Park on 15 July 2026!

Schools are invited to prepare and perform a piece of their choosing to share with others in this joyful community event. This may be a choir, or a band, or could be a dance.

We’re thrilled to welcome Playground Proms, who will be performing alongside the schools. Plus, there’ll be interactive doodle workshops with Seekers Create and vocal workshops where everyone can get involved and sing together. Come and be part of the fun - we can’t wait to see what you’ll bring to the stage!
